It’s the #1 Question: Who Is God?

  • The Most Important Question of Your Life

With this post I start a fascinating series of questions (and answers) about God, his personality, thoughts and opinions…

But I will not be giving you “my interpretation” of who He is or what He thinks. No,I will let the Lord speak for Himself…

I will simply formulate a question and let Him answer.

The first question…

Who Is God?

Pay close attention to what God said about Himself:

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and He said, “You will say this to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”―Ex. 3:14

Now God spoke all these words, saying: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me―Ex. 20:1-3

You are My witnesses, says the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me―Is. 43:10

Thus says the Lord the King of Israel, and his Redeemer the Lord of Hosts: I am the first, and I am the last; besides Me there is no God―Is. 44:6

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God―John 1:1-2

But for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist. And there is one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist―1 Cor. 8:6

[Jesus] He is the image of the invisible God and the firstborn of every creature. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers. All things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that in all things He may have the preeminence―Col. 1:15-18

He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the spring of the water of life to him who thirsts―Rev. 21:6

Of course, that’s not a comprehensive list (of everything God said about Himself) but believe me, there’s enough there to help you have the right IDEA about who He is.

Please post your thoughts below…
